Improving Food Security in South Kivu: Fish, Rabbits, and Small Livestock Support

In line with its commitment to food security and community recovery, RAI Congo DR is actively operating in the Kabare territory, South Kivu, through concrete actions aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of families affected by armed conflicts.

Our teams support local communities in the development of fish farming and rabbit rearing, two sustainable agricultural sectors that help improve access to animal protein, diversify income sources, and enhance household economic resilience. Practical training sessions are organized to enable beneficiaries to master farming techniques, manage fish ponds, and improve rabbit production.

In addition, we distribute small livestock to the most vulnerable families. This initiative specifically targets populations affected by the ravages of war in the villages of Kashenyi, Kavumu, and Mudaka. Small livestock represents an accessible, reproductive, and quickly valorized asset, allowing households to strengthen their food security while generating income.

Through these combined efforts, RAI Congo DR contributes to building more resilient communities, capable of facing socio-economic challenges and gradually reconstructing sustainable livelihoods.
